Lewis Andrews - ‘Destruction of Our Pale Blue Dot’
‘Destruction of Our Pale Blue Dot’ focuses on the destruction of oceans through mankind’s plundering of the natural world. Our endless appetite for fossil fuels has left our planet in a crucial moment, a moment in which we are now potentially unable to reverse the worst affects of climate change.
The drawings are created over an elapsed time period, mimicking the melting of the icecaps as they sink into the Indian ink. The title refers to Carl Sagan’s term the ‘Pale Blue Dot’, emphasising the fragile beauty of our planet, that is suffering and dying as a result of the accelerated affects of climate change.
